Hello all, have recently purchased a 2000 Fabia and the external boot release has stopped working. The internal lever still works so I think it may be the switch, solenoid or a fuse. Has anyone else had a similar problem or can you point me to the appropriate fuse as I am without an owners manual.

Did it ever work? Only ask as I believe there's a VAG-COM setting to only allow the boot to be opened from inside the car, but I might have imagined that

where is the boot lever :S

If it's a classic model it was never activated. It depended on having central locking I believe.

Certainly my 2000 (X) 1.4 Classic did not have the external release and it was a pain in the neck. It did have the feel of having the release but it just was not there.

Thanks for the help, not sure if it ever worked but it does have the external boot switch which is hidden above the number plate under a rubber guard and I can hear a faint clicking from that which suggests the switch may be ok. Its a comfort version and when I test drove another identical example this external button released the boot solenoid. The internal mechanical lever is on the floor on the right hand side of the drivers seat next to the petrol filler cap release lever. Anyway, I have since checked the fuses and now looks like I may have to get to the switch or solenoid to test.

I get this clicking noise on mine if I try and open the boot with all the doors locked. I suspect if you take it to your local dealer and ask them about it they'll be able to set it for you if it is an option.
