Amundsen unit...how to pause\switch off audio?

Featured Replies

I have read the instruction manual a few times and have played with all the menus available but cannot find out how to do this.

When listening to an mp3 audio file how do I pause the track or simply switch it off without having to switch off the whole Amundsen unit [for example while using the satnav] ?

If it is anything like the Columbus, just turn the volume down to zero and it will pause.

Just like rockhopper says, turn the volume doen to zero and it pauses the Amunsden. A small mute icon appears in the top left hand corner of the display. If there's another way of doing it I haven't found it.

Thanks guys for the replies.

I never thought of doing that...strange implementation of controls in my opinion

I am assuming that will not mute the navigation audio cues too?

Again, if thats like the columbus they continue to play at the correct volume.

My only real bugbear with the Columbus is that you cannot switch off (or even mute with a one-touch button) the sound-source when using satnav: As said above, you have to manually turn the volume to zero. I assume the Amundsen suffers the same design fault. An annoying (and presumably simple to remedy) oversight.

I can't understand why as its an integrated unit the radio doesn't auto mute when the sat nav is giving an audio instruction.

The only car I had built-in satnav in was my RX-8. This was quite clever in that when it relayed a satnav command it 'took over' the driver's side front speaker to do it, leaving the rest of the speakers playing whatever you were listening too. It worked perfectly.

Does the steering wheel mute option not work (ie pushing the volume wheel)?

It doesn't mute, but the source sound is faded when a satnav instruction is given, so that's not a problem.

Pushing the volume wheel on my set up merely activates voice control - it doesn't mute the sound source.
