Light buzzer and fuel warning buzzer

Featured Replies

Both of the above have stopped workin where would I start to look to fix??

For the lights, do the interior lights work as they should do when you open the drivers door?

Ignition on, open the drivers door - do the interior lights work? If not, points to the do sensor (hence it won't beep as it doesn't know the door is open) - otherwise it might be the speaker/dash unit.

If you drive with the handbrake just on so the light is lit (over 5mph I think) does it bong at you? My Fabia did and the Polo and Golf do (and the screen pings up a handbrake on message too).

If not I'd guess it was the speaker.

Hmm, got me thinking it might be good to disable the audio whilst I am fettling with the dash cluster soon....

Where is the speaker dash unit situated?

I probably wouldn't haha too loud, always makes me jump if I'm not expecting it.

Have your indicators stopped clicking too?

Yes they have mate

Yes they have mate

ah, in that case, I won't be disabling anything. The indicator clicking I find very reassuring, and I suppose the BEEEEEPs at least remind me to put fuel in.

So any one got an idea where the dash/ speaker unit is situated???

Any one????

Yes, give me a chance it's why I asked about the indicators clicking.

The beeper is in the dash cluster itself. A dry joint on the PCB means it stops working. You can strip the dash cluster down and see if you can repair it but it's not normally successful so will need a new dash cluster.

Used clusters will have mileage in them etc so from a dealer point of view would need to be a new cluster which will have to be coded to the keys and engine ECU online etc as it contains the immobiliser.

IIRC it's also a fail on the MOT as it needs an audible warning for the indicators.

Is this expensive mate

Circa £300 or so.

IIRC it's also a fail on the MOT as it needs an audible warning for the indicators.

Direction indicators may be incorporated with stop lamps, or combined with side or rear lamps. 3. Check the driver's 'tell-tale' warning device for presence and operation. Note: A 'tell-tale' may be audible or visual, it is not required if one or more direction indicators on each side can be seen by the driver from the driver's seat. 3. The driver's 'tell-tale' missing or inoperative.

Above is a piece out of the tester's manual. It says the tell-tale can be visual or audible-do both have to work? It's not possible to check the beeper is there.

Could it just be a fuse? If so what fuse cheers

yes as stated above, definitely a new dash cluster, happened to me with all the above. I was around £380 including coding and I'm sure that was with discount

Could it just be a fuse? If so what fuse cheers

No, trust me it's not.

It works then it doesn't will try an take it off tomorrow :(

Sounds like the above fault then, if you have a very fine tip soldering iron and a steady hand you may be able to sort it.
