Well done Mr. Policeman - M40 Warwickshire

Featured Replies

Travelling up the M40 yesterday at about 90, going with the flow, in the distance I saw a breif flicker of red/blue strobes on the top of a Merc 4x4. The traffic cop was doing 60 in the left lane, letting people pass easily but just givinganyone he saw approaching fast a gentle reminder of the 70 limit.

Very very effective, why cant this be a standard policy? I cant help thinking that some would just have ewaited for someone to pass them before booking them for 90mph.

I had one do that to me once on the M25 at 2am

Unfortunately the one who spotted me on the M40 a few years back wasn't so nice. Clocked me at 98.5mph :thumbdwn:

On the M6 just before Xmas I saw a traffic car with a sign in the window that flashed up and was encouraging drivers to respect lane discipline. Seemed to be working too

I said to the Mrs. last night that they should use those matrix signs to display messages about lane discipline.

"Think, Move to the left when not overtaking" or something.

how about, 'dont be such a *&*%*

I have always been tempted to get a matrix sign fitted to the car indicating it would be wise to turn off the fog lights, turn ON normal driving lights rather than parking lights (yep that's pretty much what they are, not side lights imho for a LOT of cars), that kinda stuff :D It would certainly also have a laser cutter so you could chop off bits of those cars that feel they should pull out 'through' you with only 3/4 of their car length room between you and the guy up front, mostly without indicating of course ;)

Not gonna happen though - shame, nice idea :D

They do it on the M6 through Cheshire. Great idea!

Did everyone proceed to hit the brakes resulting in a jam?

Nope, there was a sensible traffic flow past the plod (before then speeding up 1/4 mile in front of him)

Yes.Nice when reasonableness is applied.

Pre absolute mobile phone ban in cars I had a gentle reminder.Motorbike cop from nowhere to suddenly appearing right next to my window with a suggestion I put the phone down.Frit the life out of me Mr Houdini.Didn't stop me though

Best one was the signal they used to give to remind you to put your seatbelt on.Looked awfully rude .Or was that just around here
