Removing Rear Seats - MK2 Fabia vRS TSi Hatch **GUIDE**

Featured Replies

Tools/Parts Needed :

Flat head screw driver

T50 Torx bit/screwdriver

Car Used :

2011 MK2 Skoda Fabia vRS 1.4 TSi Hatchback

Time Needed :

About 10 minutes

Difficulty :

1/5 - Nothing to it

We have this to start with :

Take out the parcel shelf :

Next onto the bottom part of the seats :

You need to pull these forward and down so they expose the prongs underneath that simply unhook from the car :

You should be left with this :

Do the same for both parts and voila! :

For the back part of the seats firstly fold the seats down :

Look for this part nearest the door side of the car :

Take a flat head screw driver and push the holding clamp back :

You should now be able to lift the pin out from under the clamp. For the other end of the back piece you just need to pull it towards to door and it should come off :

Do the same for the other side. Lastly, as the middle seat belt is attached to the seat you will need to remove the bolt holding it in place. This is where your T50 torx bit will come in handy (£5.99 from Halfords if you don't have one!) :

Put the seats somewhere safe, for me, making a lovely temp sofa in my room and voila the job is done! :

  • 3 weeks later...

I found the bigger middle rear seat to be a pita to remove. It just wouldn't budge but got it out eventually.

Easy to put back in though, perfect for a quick weight lose or if you're going to pick up a big chest of drawers!

First time was a pain in the ar$e to do but now can get the seats out in about 5 mins :)

Why do you need to do this?

  • Author

Incase, as said, you need to move something and need the extra room in the car or to remove weight for a trackday etc.

  • 1 month later...

With seats out it looks like Roomster, except Roomster seats come out and go back in under 3 minuets with out any tools

Lol I reckon I could get close to that now I know how it's done ;)

So how much do those back seats weigh?

I'm assuming as you've taken them out you've worked out the benefit in power-to-weight ratio?

I weighed the rear seats in my Ibiza tdi and they're 30kg.

I only put the rear seats in when i need to which isn't often so run a lighter more efficient car.

Along with other weight losses in my car you really can feel the difference when pushing on.

You hear a lot more as well. The seats do an excellent job of noise suppression!
