Track days and Fabia vRS's ?!?!

Featured Replies

Just having a little chat with my mate. We often go and watch various amatuer track days, but i was wondering what the vRS is like on the track. How does it compare to the classic trackday road cars, i.e 106 GTI 205 GTI etc etc. I think i will have a pop at a track day this summer. Is there one planned !?!?

Not as quick as an Octy ;) but not a bad motor for doing them in :D

I was interested in trackdays but insurance will not allow :(

Will not cover, rather than "not allow", surely?

I didn't take any extra cover (or inform my insurer) when I went to the brunters track day... ;)

Hopefully have at least 2 dates soon for days out.

You don't really need to insure for the track day, if you must there are policies available...there is normally a lot of space, concessionary over taking and nothing coming the other way; normally.

Very few accidents on these days, providing you keep your brains in your head and don't think you have a enzo in paris or some other simulation.

The Fabia is ok on track...will be hard to keep up with anything you mention if they are set up for track use. Eg a Nova tracked and sorted was keeping Jon Honest in mine for a few laps.

the fabia is ok around the track, alot heavier though. Not as chuckable as say a saxo vts/pug 106 but for what it is, it will do the job ok.

When at Knockhill, short track with hills performed well against 1.8T VAG models up to 225hp was ok more than that and the pulled away on the straight. Make sure you fit old tyres with just 2mm or less tread, any more and the blocks warm up and tyres loose grip.

Also upgrade brake pads and fluid. ( if not a complete upgrade )

Better stick to a organised day rather than a nutter open day.

ah - some good tips there. I have just put a post up asking about an open pit, but perhaps not for my first time - lol.

I would have thought as you cannot stay 'in gear' for that long the Furby would struggle a bit against those who can pull 4000 rpm in a single gear?

A remapped Furby would be better I'm guessing :D
