Engine Light Flashing

Featured Replies

This happened as I was driving along near home and close to the local repair workshop fortunately.

It was a faulty coil pack on my AUM 1.8 20 Valve Turbo petrol engine.

I took it round Monday 08:30 and by 14:00 same day it was delivered back to me with a new coil Pack at £27.00 and a bill for 45 mins labor.

So working fine again now.

The chap at the garage said they had replaced a lot of these lately.

The Car has just clicked over 142000 miles.

I think I will definitely invest in another spare coil pack to keep in the boot in case I get caught out again.

I think the RAC man can fix this part for me.

45mins labour! good work if you can get it :)

Yes I think I am lucky as he, unlike Dealers, never charges for the scan.

there has been a recall on these for octavia - would try that before you buy any more

Yeah as above. All the 1.8T vehicles have had an offical recall from Skoda. Give your nearest dealer a ring, book it in and get brand new coil packs fitted for free. You may even have a chance to reclaim money for this coil pack if you have kept your receipt?

As for replacing, take you 2 mins to do, maybe 5 depending on what coil has gone. If its the easy 2, only tool you need is your key!

Had mine checked as part of the recall on it's last service. Mine all R variant, so ok. Dealer will replace if they're Skoda OEM part only and not an R or one other variant, can't remember which , but there is a long running thread on this and the Mk2 Fsi engines somewhere.

R or D won;t be replaced - just go and buy some revision N from ebay to enable a full replacement of all 4!!!

Yup, they'll replace any coilpack that's a genuine part and doesn't end in R or D.

To the OP, you might as well get it booked in to the skoda garage, as if one has gone, the others probably aren't far behind.
