Golf TDI alarm issue

Featured Replies

Scanned a golf TDI (2000) earlier and there were no faults in module 46. I did find the CAN gateway was wrongly coded but don't think that was causing the issue. It didn't have the auto trans added in to the coding so I changed it from 00006 to 00007 and all good. Basically the car wasn't seeing the drivers door opening - no puddle light coming on or interior lights. OK for all other doors.... The door was unlocking and locking as it should though.

No faults though? In addition, the alarm was going off at random times. Also, due to the drivers door not being recognised, the car would auto lock itself after 30 seconds or so, once you'd got in the driver's door.

I just thought maybe the convenience module was playing silly buggers, but then why would there be no fault codes at all? Had me at a bit of a loss.

Common golf issue - it'll most likely need the solder joints of the door modules re-flowing. I intend to do mine when it's warmer as I have the same issues as you've come across.

A few good guides on the Golf forums if it helps. :)

There wouldn't be any codes as the door thinks that it's closed (likely a dodgy microswitch) and for the alarm, as far as it is concerened it's behaving normally. There's a measuring block in the convenience unit that should give you the last four alarm sources and another one that will give you the door open/closed status.

Had theses faults when I had a Golf TDI, Door module again. Also have a look at the rear hatch lock and see if it is wet, washer tube splits in the rear hatch window and dribbles into the lock. Now where have we heard of washer tubes splitting before.
