Fixed / Variable servicing

Hopefully taking delivery of our new estate April / May.

Regarding variable / fixed servicing, is there a default option or is this something I need to request from the dealer? I seem to recall, back in 2005, that our current car started out variable and ended up on fixed.

IIRC it will come out on QG1 variable servicing. Every new Skoda we've ever had has been QG1. I suppose you could request fixed servicing at PDI if that is what you want. All of my cars have been on variable with no problems.

The sticker in the service book will tell you which you have. The maxidot on newer cars shows the current time/distance to the next service and shows '---' for the first few hundred miles (might be 300 but not sure).

I think you're fine on variable as long as you're doing a good number of miles and use the right fuel.

My opinion is that it's n miles or 2 years. If you're doing n miles in a year or just over then you're fine on variable, but if you're waiting for the two years rather the mileage on the service, then you're probably better off on an anual fixed service.

Thanks - we're probably looking at about 10K miles per year. The dealer must have changed it to fixed servicing but never consulted us - not that it was a problem.
