Video input interface on Bolero. Anybody tried this?

Featured Replies

Saw this kit on ebay to add a video input to an RCD510 (Bolero). Any thoughts on this or anyone tried it?

Might give it a go. Would be pretty cool to get a TV tuner or reverse camera on my Bolero!

Get it and make a step by step guide for installing and a demo vid of it set up working and you will be a true pioneer sir!

That one Fubar.

The interface comes from Spain I think, so now just got an agonising wait!

I have checked out the installation guide and dismantled my beloved Bolero as a dummy run to make sure the guts of my stereo matched the pics in the guide. You never know about diff manufactures and revisions etc. (Should have done this first really!) And the good news is they pretty much do! As far as I can tell there is only very subtle differences of a few small component locations (prob down to a later revision). But that's it! Fingers crossed.

Mine is made by Blaupunkt BTW. Don't know if there is any other makers of this stereo. I know there is a couple who make the Columbus.

Delphi were making them for 2010 cars, and I think it was a different manufacturer before that.

Mine is early 2011. Blaupunkt.

So that might be 3 different manufacturers over the life of the Bolero!

There is a guide you can download from the ebay page that has step by step pics. No point re-inventing the wheel. I did take some of my own while doing it, but theirs are better.

I'll do my best to answer any questions though.

Good job!

Seems a bit tricky to do.. especially cos of the soldering..

It is a bit involved. Certainly not just plug and play! There is 5 wires to solder to points on the circuit board, but that's it. Carefully followed, step by step it's do'able.

Does it matter what make your bolero is as I have seen that there are 2 or 3 different makers of the same unit? Hoping to get my columbus soon if I hadn't decided on it and set my heart on it I would have prob gone down this line as I only getting it for ability to plug in TV :D but the sat nav will be a good resale thing

It says on the listing that it's only for blaupunkt. But in the pics of the guide it's a bosch they're installing to. Suppose that only leaves the Delphi? Only way to find out would be to compare the guts of one to the other.

I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron so that bit doesn't worry me, but as there was a mention on the ebay page of the canbus, and seeing as mine is a 58 plate pre-fl, is there anything to give the impression that this would work in a bolero in ANY model car, or might it only work on a motor where a Bolero would have come with it?

Hope that makes sense?!

AFAIK.......Blaupunkt are Bosch.
