The absolute cheek!

Featured Replies

Called my dealer this morning in order to book my first service (due in the next month) and was asked if there was anything else I wanted them to look at.

I mentioned I would like the double click to open from the key fob changed to single click.

The operator then informed me that it would cost £30 labour charge to do this. I wa a bit dumbfounded to say the least.

I asked why this was the case as during the service a diagnostics check would be done anyway and during this process surely my request could be carried out without too much problem.

I got the same reply of £30.

Needless to say after a very short exchange (me explaining that not only had I already spent £14,000 of my hard earned money at their dealership and if they thought for a second they could charge me a ridiculous £30 on top i would get my service elsewhere) they agreed to 'waive' the fee!!!!!!

Just thought this was nonesense and wonder how many people out there (perhaps older generation) would pay this extra without a fuss.

As stated in the title ...... The absolute cheek!!

I'm sure theres a few guys on here that will do it for nothing buddy! :)

I also find this very cheeky. I think that you should be given the choice of the options to enable/disable with the PDI.

Phil

i agree phil, its not like theres only 1 or 2 as there seems to be many and i would have like the choice

the only one i REALLY needed was the one click unlock which they did for me no problem, not even a mention of a charge even though thats all i was having done. i guess some dealers are better than others

Nice to see somewhere with a bit of ( even if pushed) service savvy .For the sake of £30 , they'd lose out on keeping a tech in work that day ,and all the profit on the service . With programming, we used ( in telecomms) to program to customers wishes, and return once FOC if they needed any fine tuning . Simple good customer relations. We used to return a few times to make any slight adjustments till a few customers started taking the P.

This should be asked at PDI ," how would you like key functions to operate for you valued customer" , thing is though most of the dealers do not have any clue how to use the system, find someone local to you with vcds and buy them a pint

It really wouldn't be hard to just have a list of options for each car and to let the customer know what can be enabled on them. Then when the car comes in and they do the PDI etc they can enable/disable the relevent options... The customer would feel like they were getting something special.

Customer service can be appauling in this country sometimes... and people inability to complain doesn't help matters sometimes.

Called CUSTOMER SERVICE,though . The time & motion lot can't see any need for it ,as it doesent seem to generate cash .

You cannot complain! I found that out just a couple of weeks ago told me to get out and never return!, I won't .

Oh well at least its going to be done for nothing now but as previously stated i feel sorry for anyone who may not want to complain/question things and just end up paying it.

I appreciate it's tough for everyone (including dealerships) in the current climate but as consumers sometimes we need to make a stand - in a polite way of course and get a fair deal!

Out of interest Seboni what did you complain about?

They should ask when you bought the car how you want it set up (info given to me by Lightcliffe Warrington) because there are a number of programable features. They took mine in after 4 weeks and set mine up free of charge. Try getting in touch with Skoda uk?

I was quoted £42 to get the central locking changed.

Time IS money though guys. Personally, I feel that the first 'preference' on the likes of features that can be re-programmed easily, should be complimentary.

It's that small attention to detail that seperates the dealers I feel.

20 second job on VCDS. :D

When you get the coding changed don't forget to take both keys in,

I know when you have memory seats you can personalise each key differently, can't remember if that is the case with manual seats as it has been a long time since I have done it.

Yor you -yes - I'll give you a laptop and a KXTD1232 ,with voicemail, and ISDN 30 set to provide an incoming service to each extension and see how long it takes you to set thing up . But ,I did( modify it) it , for free - because it brought the custom back . Something the firms don't realise - good service brings custom back . A freeby here or there- don't cost much, but it wil bring back the return custom . Especially if the tech is sitting on his ass drinking tea .

Thanks but no thanks, much prefer network infrastructure to pbx phone infrastructure.

As for the dealer not doing the change, I took my Furby to replace the gear knob and they made several changes gratis. Their level of service has definitely impressed me.

I was impresed with one dealer local to my workplace, but they went under .Problem was in getting there . However ,I was impressed with the work on the front door cards, and the swift/simple action on the rear washer . But not with the "technical ability" of the receptionist - who like all ladies on the desk ,thought she had more knowledg than some of her customers.

I'm of the older generation and believe me, I certainly won't just pay up. You have to be 'cost savvy' these days and protect your own interests as no-one else will.

Coming back to the subject, I had some programme changes done when my car was a few weeks old. I asked the dealer (in Liverpool) in advance whether they would charge. 'Not for that kind of thing' was their reply. Job done quickly ane efficiently and everything works as I want it. Couldn't ask for more. Thanks.
