In need of a favour people

Featured Replies

Been lOoking for a new car for swimbo she has decided on a monte Carlo 1.2 105 bhp version. The only problem is none of the dealer local to us in Wrexham have any available for a test drive. Just wondering if anyone local to Wrexham if they have one would be willing to take her out for a drive if the dealers cannot get one in to try

It's the dealer's JOB to make a demonstrator available, probably one of the sales guys using one or even a Director's wife. Keep on asking and, if no response, go to another dealer. DON'T buy a car without a good demonstration - most dealers just let you go off in the car without a salesman as long as you leave your existing car with them. I know Skoda are on a roll at present with good demand but they still need to make an effort!!

The car is the biggest purchase most people make after a house - don't buy it without a dealer really trying. Also..... if dealer is not trying BEFORE you buy what will aftersales service be like?

I'm hoping they will sort something out. But looking round on the likes of auto trader and skodas website there aren't that many about in dealers. Nearest being 50 miles away might go for the run out if the more local dealer can't sort something our. Was just trying to cover all bases plus get an owners opinion on one aswell

Ah, you want opinions on Fabia2 ? You're in the right place. Bought mine after 38 years of company cars so checked out reliability, Auto Express poll etc and after two years am really impressed. Comfortable, reliable, reasonable performance, good fuel economy, cheap insurance, can seat 4 adults well, so what else do you want to know?

Check out 'Autoexpress' Driver Power survey and 'What Car' for readers' experiences with Fabias - most are positive. Discount comments about noisey cars 'cos early Diesels were but petrols are not. I've driven 1.2 TSi & 1.4TSi and loved them both. Are you buying New or Used?

Hopefully you'll get more info from other Briskodians here.

Looks like brand new all black fabia monte Carlo 1.2tsi 105bhp. No optional extras as she doesn't want any, other than a spare wheel.

I'm sure they can find you a tsi of some sort. Even if it's an 86 se estate it will give you chance to check out the car's dynamics. You can check out the trim on any engined car. And if an 86 seems ok then a 105 will be better. From what I've read, the power delivery is pretty similar between the 2 engines, just with a bit more in reserve in the 105 for when you've got a car full.

Try Alex Lawrie Skoda in Liverpool. Not that far from you and with a good reputation. Have dealt with them for the past 3 years and been very impressed. I'd be surprised if they couldn't help you with a test drive of some sort. Ask for Eamon. Let us know how you get on. Thanks.

Screw for the best price BEFORE mentioning the wheel, When you are happy with the deal, THEN insist it has a spare thrown in as the "Little lady" Doesn't wanna get caught out with a puncture on the M1 and no spare wheel, does she?

As a dealer option, theey should be quite reasonably priced but free is even more reasonable. Remember, it's YOUR money!

(Just make sure you get a full sized, matching alloy, not a skinny steel).

Surely they have a Yeti with this engine?

Mitchell's only had one yeti I could see and that was a diesel. Spare wheel seems to be only available as a space saver as I really can't see them chucking in a black 17 alloy
