Transponder Question

Featured Replies

I have a 59 plate Fabia 2, 1.2 petrol, 6 valve, Simos ECU, pre facelift.

My question is this car using CAN based Megamos transponders that are coded to chassis number?

The car is very similar to my previous VW Polo 9N3, which didn't use CAN transponders at all. I believe they use Megamos Crypto type 48 transponders.

The reason why I'm asking this question is because I have no keys for the car and am having lots of conflicting information from garages and locksmiths regarding coding new keys.

Thanks.

The Fabia is not CAN based.

Not quite sure how you will get them coded without ANY keys mind.

Just an update for anyone having similar problems in future.

Ordered key from dealers, normal Megamos type 48 transponder in key. Chassis number not in transponder, not pre coded and not CAN.

It makes the car electrically the same as 9N3 VW Polo.

Local locksmiths could not pull the 4 digit ID code to code the keys.

Turned out local dealers were cheaper anyway.

Really good service from local dealer in Darlington.
