Washer resevoir leaking

Featured Replies

Hi all been ages.

So last few months my wipers resevoir has been needing refilling regularly. Anyway the other day i filled it to the bril before a trip and came back to the car to a puddle by the front wheel and a level warning light.

I think its a classic case of the hose coming off. Now my issue is my drive isnt suitable for jacking the car.... Damn tree roots so my question is does the fabia need to be jacked to get the bumper off ?

I dont have like £170 for a garage to do it.

Thanks.

I just did this on Saturday. I took the wheel arch liner off and it was dead easy to get at, no need to remove the bumper.

I've got /had this on my 04 Tdi . Haynes say it's bumper off job, so I left it . Many thanks for inforcing my idea . At moment ,it's not a lot, so not worth doing anything about ,as I don't really notice any difference between the period of filing before/ aftr the leak .

Definitely accessible after removing the wheel arch liner. No need to remove bumper.

I had the same problem. It was leaking from around where the motor fits into the bottle. Took it off, gave everything a good clean and it's not leaked since.

Ta ,Phil - at moment it's only a dribble- and it's too cold out for a OAP to get under the car . Might leave it till summer .

If you are only reconnecting pipes or the pump and not doing a complete bottle replacement you can get by without jacking the car or taking the wheel and arch liner off. Simply put the steering on full right lock and undo the liner screws along the edge of the arch which should give allow you to bend the liner back and give you enough room to get at everything (it did for me). You'll need to prop the liner open with a piece of wood or similar to give stop it springing back into position getting in the way.

Yes, agreed, me too.

DB.

I had this on mine. After taking the bottle out and cleaning everything up it turned out it was leaking from the pump. I got a replacement pattern part of ebay for about £9 and it has been fine since
