Engines wobbling.

Featured Replies

So, why is it some engines shake on startup?

Currently looking at getting the girlfriend a new car and we looked at a diesel punto. The engine drove fine and it was very nice however the engine had that usual high mileage diesel shake on startup/shutdown.

Is it the engine mounts perishing?

which engine was it? the 1.3 diesel comes in two power levels, there's the "eco" 1.6, and the engine I had, the 1.9 (which I didn't experiance any shaking on, being commonrail was way smoother than the PD vRS I had before...) and I ran the punto from new to 110k without issues...

its the 1.9jtd with 80bhp.

It only shakes as you start the engine. Once the engine has started (and you have stopped cranking i guess) it stops almost immediately. I suppose its more wobbling than shaking!

This may not help but when my dog bone went there was no indication before hand but boy did I know when it went!

Engine mounts would my first guess

All engine rock on start up, down the simple physics of the engine but guessing yours is doing it pretty badly
