Yeti Gear Ratios

Featured Replies

Hi, after 10 years with Toyota I'm looking forward to collecting my first Yeti on the 9th of March - nothing comes close to offering so much for the money. It's a factory fresh 110 bhp, 2 wheel drive diesel SE with the 5 speed 'box. I'm wondering about the gear ratios and I'd like to know if anyone can tell me the MPH per 1000 RPM figures as I find them useful guide to speedometer accuracy. Any information will be very welcome.

Thanks,

Richard T

More people will see it in here HTH

As it requires a bit of maths and as I have of drink partaken, I will reply tomorrow (unless someone beats me to it!). I assume 225/50/17 rubber?

Funny it's not widely available data - I saw a reference to the German web site and they show the data in

http://www.skoda.de/...?e=348-9-33-8-2

as

First grade 3.778

Second grade 2.118

Third grade 1.269

4th grade 0.865

5th grade 0.660

6th grade -

7th grade -

Grade Z / R. 3.600

Axle ratio I 3.647

Another site, CarInf, just has top gear data:

http://www.carinf.co...a560424018.html

Transmission Number of gears 5

Top gear ratio 0.66:1

Final drvie ratio 3.65:1

OK! Sober now and the figures (starting with reverse and then running 1st through 5th) are:

-5.86, 5.58, 9.96, 16.62, 24.39, 31.96.

In everyday driving (in a diesel) and for better tachometer accuracy one would be better thinking of miles per hour (rounded to the nearest) at 1500rpm. They are as follows:

-9, 8, 15, 25, 37, 48.

Hope that helps?

Many thanks for the info - that's the long gearing I was hoping for and the torque will definitely come in handy.

Yes; I nice straightforward 5 speed 'box with a standard final diff.. These days the engines are so powerful that 4th and 5th in your new car are what I still think of as overdrive! Glad to be of help (and cos I love a maths challenge ~ anyone else out there with a mathematical query ~ apart from mannyo who didnt like my reply re mpg!)
