Octavia VRS - Warm start query

Featured Replies

Hiya folks, gonna soon have to sell my Octy Vrs to get a van.

Engine management light has been on for a while and hasnt affected the drivability of the car so have not bothered with it, one thing i have noticed has changed is the starting and fuel consumption.

When starting from cold its normal, first turn within a second and its fired and running fine, when warm however it takes 2-3 seconds and when fired the revs climb to about 2500rpm and then settle and it drives fine, just on startup have i noticed any difference also its a bit heavy on fuel. So i think its overfueling when warm??

Could this be exhaust temp sensor or something, anyone had same symptoms? Would like to get it sorted before i put it up for sale.

Many thanks in advance.

Do a scan on the engine for codes, my one did this when it dropped a front lambda sensor last week. fuel consumption dropped about 10 mpg on a run, and you get that lovely colour matched eml just to hack you off for good measure :wall: .

Seriously though, a scan on the engine is definately the way to go.

Sounds like coolant temp sensor to me - fault code scan will confirm it before you go buying anything.

Cheers fella's, yeah i know the scan is the way im going to be 100% sure, just wondered if it was a common fault.

Coolant temp sensor. Replace with a genuine VAG CTS only!
