Featured Replies

Hi, i've got the MOT coming up and was wondering if this damage to my front plate would fail it...Anyone hazard a guess?

Cheers

No

I would imagine only an advisory, but then again, I'm not an MOT tester :D

colour the bit in with a permant black market

Your asking on the condition side of things, so for that they test the following.

Reasons for rejection...

A registration plate:

a. missing or incorrect

b. so insecure that it is likely to fall off

c. letter or figure missing or incomplete

d. faded, dirty, delaminated, deteriorated or obscured, (for example by a towbar) so that it is likely to be misread or is not easily legible by a person standing approximately 20 metres to the front/rear of the vehicle

e. background overprinted or shadowed with text e.g. vehicle manufacturer name

By the book yes.........as the number is "damaged" which could make it difficult to read.

No that wont fail. I would not even advise as its clearly visible! I have only failed two on illegally spaced plates. If you are worried ask them to look over the car first or if its being serviced it should be checked then.

It would take a serious chopper to fail his car on that. As above he could just use a marker pen to neaten it up. As a singe plate is £5.95 on eBay why not just buy a new one?
