REVO SPS arrived

Featured Replies

Took since December when the car was done, but at last it's here.

I'll have to 'go play' then I guess.

At first when I opened the package, I thought I had a box of condoms ;-)

What does it do jonny ?

I think it allows the user to change the settings of the Revo map.

Thought jonny had enough stuff on the oil burner ( petrol) ;) he's spend a fortune on mods ? , thought you weren't happy with it ?

I would have spent much more on mods by now if I were single.....

SPS (serial port software) came with Revo Stage 1. It allows adjustments to the map depending on the rating of fuel used.

I'm VERY happy with the map, just not with the silly issues I've had.

It allows you to run a lower piwer map with the same performance as stock.

Then there's the lower octane maps. Handy if you don't have access to 99 ron fuel.

Jonny, be waryof setting C. Loads of seat guys tried running it to make maxpower but its designed for 100ron fuel inoptimum conditions. Theirs worked better on setting B

Cheers Sy,

Have it on setting 2 (equals performance A) so should it be on setting 3 ?

Off the top of my head i cant remember. Ill get hurdy to pop along and he'll let you know

There are several settings on the SPS switch and each setting is fixed and cannot be adjusted unless you jump from stage 1 to stage 2, then REVO will re-program settings A B and C.

It appears some people have ABC and some have 123 equivalents.

Setting C/3 is for 100+ octane fuel - 99ron fuel will not do it for this setting and is only to be used if you have access to 100+ron fuel, 99ron + octane booster or water methanol injection.

Thats exactly what i mean. A few seatcupranet guys were running it on setting C/3 with 99 ron fuel, but then posting up about how the car was pulling power back etc. Its got the potential for more power, but only if you have the supporting fuels/mods.

Hurdy,

Thanks for the reply.

Am I right in assuming then, that setting B/2 is the correct setting for the Stage 1 remapped car ?

I had an email from Awesome, which if I remember correctly, mentions that A/1 = 97 RON and B2 = 98/99 RON ?

Cheers

Yes, the settings are designed to follow the strength of the map and the height of the octane needed in the fuel.

Only a fruitcake would run the C/3 setting all the time.......me! Although WMI is permanently on.

for those who are not clear what it is:

In all fairness, you can see why Revo are one of the biggest names in the remapping business when they make it that easy.

So....off to BP garage to ask the attendant to let you have the key to get the race fuel at like £2.60 a litre? :giggle:

APR take that to another level.

They do it all through the cruise control stalk.

You can have a

1-security lockout: Means you cant start the car even with the key until that code is entered.

2- Upto 4 seperate remap configurations : stock, 95Ron, 98 Ron, 100 Ron,

3- a Valet map limited power mode: ideal for when a garage has your car to stop them ragging it.

4- Fault code erase.

5-Anti theft mode.

6- Throttle body re-alignment.

Did you know where REVO originate from......Its all available on the net for public viewing. No idea what the final outcomes were, but APR make no secret about what happened APR VS REVO LEGAL FILES: http://www.goapr.com/revo/ . This one sums up the claims http://www.goapr.com/revo/files/UK/Edit5%20-%20UK%20Court%20-%20Brett%20Witness%20Statement.pdf

Lol at the "Revo steals code" page.

with regards to the revo one, once youve selected the setting, do you have to do this each time you get in the car or is it a once only plug in unless you want a different setting?

Plug it in once. Then when you fancy a change plug it back in

Plug it in once. Then when you fancy a change plug it back in

Did that this afternoon and the SPS is dead.

Went through the process carefully a few times but it's completely dead.

I have a feeling that this may be one of those 'trial' SPS units that you can use, which lasts for however many hours, but who knows.

I've sent an email directly to Revo as I'm fed up with dealing with Awesome GTi.

Awesome by name, not by nature.

I was never contacted by them for the 10 weeks (I did all the chasing up) I waited for the SPS and when I contacted them last week, the sales guy said "yeah, we've got some in stock, have you ordered one ?" To top it all, I had an email sent asking "what's the best address to send it to". Smacks of 'who are you ?'

After all the recent faults with my car, I am not surprised in the slightest that this is merely the next episode. Although not the fault of the car, I'm sick and tired of it now.

My Mk1 had an Amd 'One Click' and the car + the map was absolutely faultless. How things can change eh ? :smirk:
