Rear view mirror - help needed

Featured Replies

After a bit of advice on our Fabia vRS.

We recently had the screen replaced, and the "button" to which the mirror affixes would not come off the old screen.

So we ordered a new retaining part (that sticks to the screen). The Skoda garage sold us part S6N0845543.

However, I've just opened the part to discover it's a metal disc. I can see where the mirror attached to it, but there is nothing sticky on the back, and there are three small raised dimples - which make it sit proud on the glass.

Am I missing another part?

Thanks for any help / pointers.

Is the bracket not built into the screen? ie the mirror twists off its original bracket (old screen)

No, there is no bracket built into the screen.

There is a black dot to show where the mirror goes, but that's it.

The mirror twists off a "button" which is stuck on the screen.

The "button" clearly fits the mirror... but there is no sticky bit for the screen. Seems odd.

Must have to buy some sort of sticky pad, call TPS mate see if they list anything.

i had my windscreen replaced, i recall the "window fitter?" using a type of glue to put it back on.

Who are TPS?

Might be a trip to Hellfrauds for some adhesive!

Years ago a firm ( think it part of the superglue setup) came up with a glue for this .Apply to mirror backing, and hold in place fro a set time. It was light sensitive .But it worked . Think I got ot from Halfrauds. But then this was in the era of the Austin maxi .

Cheers guys. Been to Hellfrauds and parted with money. Hopefully the sticky stuff will work.
