Thinking of buying a 2.0 TDI

Featured Replies

Hi,

Thinking of changing my vRS for a new 2.0 TDI estate, change of cicumstances (brought a caravan, would never have guessed we'd have done that 2 years ago, but then again I'd have never thought I'd be an enthusiastic Skoda owner 3 years ago :D )

I'm looking at an Elegance or L&K but am finding that they are in short supply so the price not very negotiable :( Has anybody managed to get a good deal on a pre-order such as half price leather or stereo upgrade etc ?

If you've had a vRS before and now have a 2.0 TDI how are you getting on, do you really miss the performance or do you find that the on the road performance is not that far short in the real world ?

Has anybody released a re-map for the 2.0 TDI yet?

Visiting the dealer at the weekend to take a test drive in the new TDI demonstrator for a while and if all goes well hoping to try and thrash out a deal

Darren

there is not much info on the L&K at the moment but you dealer should have a bulliten on what it comes with over the Elegance spec. the 2.0l will not be as fast as the Octy vRS as it has less power and weighs more but in real world driving and the punch Performance wise it gives the samefigures as the Fabia vRS.

I had to order my Sport as dealers rarely order stock with extras as people tend to want different things. As they are in demand a deal my not be brilliant, a copy of What car will show you how much you should expect to get after a discount and will even put you in touch with a dealer that will offer you that if the dealer you go to wont go that far.

If you order this week, you will be looking at delivery in around 8 weeks time if the colour/trim combination is avaliable. as they use a 4 week lead time for option builds apparently and then a few weeks to get delivered to the dealer from the factory.

Roo .You gotta stop posting with that picture.I swore to my wife I was happy and content and now I got very itchy feet.Very.

I was offerd a great deal on a silver 2.0 TDI Elagence with 17" wheels and black leather, worked out to be a good price for my car and leather for free but it was on a hatch and I can't talk my wife into having a hatch instead of an estate. If I could get a similar deal on an estate the vRS will be going. Shame about the hatch though as it was sat in the showroom so no wait and the insurance is due at the end of the month

Have just swapped my Octy vRS for a 2.0tdi estate. It's no vRS mate but it's very good at fast cruising and if you can get past the diesel thing it's really nice to drive. Handling is spot on with the standard suspension and 16" wheels.

I saw Mike's estate on Friday and think it looks pretty damn fine. Just a thought though but why can't you use the RS for dragging a caravan along with??

Saying that if you do go for the tdi does that mean there might be a Milltek going spare :D

Jimmy, Octy 1 towball weight is quite low which is a pain when loading the van, new octy has a raised towball weight which would help. Low down torque of a TDI is better for towing than the top end of a vRS.

Fuel consuption is the other big factor (and the joy of owning a new car, having looked closely at the Octy 2 the interior quality has improved too :D)

I'll let you know about the Miltek after our test drive and consult with the dealer on Sat  Not a definate yet, depends on the cost to change.

Yeah. It's hardly fair is it.

My girlfriend wouldn't forgive me if I part exchanged my car after only 7 months and I'd never live it down at work... This site is doing me no favours at all! :(

This seems like a good time to say HI to everyone as I have just bought the following for the wife:

Octavia 2.0TDI Elegance Estate

Metallic

Active Head Restraints

Curtain Airbags

Multifunction Wheel & Maxidot

Xenons

List price for this is £18325. After some negotiations, we agreed on full list price for the car and all the options for free.

So we paid £17100, a saving of £1225 which I am very happy with. The only downside is we have to wait 8-12 weeks for it.

Hi Alock,

Do you mind me asking, do you have a part exchange? and if so have they guaranteed your part ex price? This is my biggest worry as the Octy 1 seems to be dropping about £500 a month at the moment according to one dealer I spoke to

I got about £1k off my Elegance - £500 on my p/ex and about £600 off the list price - it wasn't against specific options though.

I had a vRS car-before-last. Have to say that the 2.0TDI in the midrange is very impressive, even if it can't reach 70 in 2nd gear like the vRS!

Only other thing I would say is be suspicious of the lead times they quote. If you order a base car with no options I think you get them quite quickly. However, as soon as you add options it becomes a factory order. I spoke to my dealer in March and he told me that people ordering factory cars then would probably not see them until September

It is true that dealers have stock, so if you take there current stock then a good deal can be had, otherwise the discount will bee less and you will have to wait several weeks.

I traded my 3-year-old vRS in for a standard elegance 2.0tdi estate in metallic beige. I got 7.5k trade in and a £1557.13 discount including free mats. All done in the time taken to get the car from their stock and PDI it. If I'd have ordered one, then I would have lost £500 on the px and not got the same discount.

This is what I'd like but in Silver with black leather if I could get the leather thrown in or an L&K :D .

This picture is probably going to cost me a fortune

Probably about the same as this pic cost me.........

Cheers ColinD

And if they bring out an vRS, it'll have to be chopped in again ;)

maybe in 2 years time.

No part exchange. My wife currently has a Polo which we are selling privately.

I've ordered the 2l tdi elegance hatch, dealer wouldn't entertain px on my octy 1 as its got 100k+ on it. It's probably why I could get £1300 of list.

PS I do like Roo's piccies, as my black elegance with 17" Alloys and rear boot spoiler should look a bit like it. :)

thats the sport, I've got one on order to replace my Fabia vRS :D

it's got the same boot spoiler and the accessory brochure bodykit as std.

I know. I was going to get the full spoiler kit but with nearly an extra £800+ with fitting and paint thought no. Went for the leather, esp, mfsw and stereo and speaker upgrade instead oh and the wheels and oval exhaust trim :)

Looks like it will be an Octy 2 Estate after all :D

Darren

I've just had a quote for a 1.9 Elegance estate, list is £15,600, they have offered me £14,900 with free metallic paint. Saving me £995, if my maths are correct.

Quite pleased with this as I didn't haggle at all, just asked them to fax me a quote.

No trade in, no options and a grand deposit.

Excellent deals on Octavia estates can still be done: A 2.0 Diesel Elegance Estate with curtain air bags, metallic paint, a multi-function wheel (which on the Elegance includes the Maxi-dot display) comes to a list of £17815 on the road. My east-coast dealer offered this for £15,600 – a useful discount of £2215. He suggested delivery in 4 to 6 weeks – the former I was openly sceptical about, the latter modestly hopeful. We shall see.
