Someone drove to the UK, used up so much oil & had so many annoying little faults that they decided enough is enough and got the plane back.

Easily, I run a Left hand drive Jag in the UK for 18 months and the additional premium for the LHD was zero. The only concern the insurance company had is, has it been registered in the UK, and lights modified for driving on our side. They are not interested in country of origin or specification, my ex Dubai jag (arabic everywhere) had a special emissions system fitted and that did not bother them either. No problems with MOTs, servicing, parts as they are all readily available to order.

You'll be surprised how many Left Hand drive cars are on the UK road network having been registered here. Everything from brand new BMW's to old bangers. Pistonheads has a section dedicated to them and there are plenty of specialists importing cars from Germany and Belgium, and not to mention ex. pats from Spain / France returning to the UK.
