Ultimate Nouveau Riche 4x4 (or SUV)

Just wondering what are people's thoughts on Super Luxury SUVs such as this Bentley:

To me, it is pointless. The one thing a super luxury car should have is no noise, I just could not imagine how noisy the luggage/golf clubs would be in the boot.

With a normal saloon car, the luggages could rattle and cling without any intrusion to the passengers, with a hatchback or estate car, no matter how good it is (including Range Rover), noise would still be transmitted through the parcel shelf to the passenger cell.

Surely, for the people who buy these cars, they want as little noise intrusion as possible.

EDIT: Actually thinking about it, the people who buy these cars are likely to put extra large shiny wheels on them and matt black paint job, the boot is likely to be filled with subwoofers or footballs or football kits or perfume.

PS it reminds me of the Panther Dolomite, totally pointless and mad. Having said that, the Panther served a point - small luxury cars.

It makes a lot of sense to me.

Range Rovers (the full fat version) are very good cars, but are getting bit common for some, in some areas.

What better than something like this so you can spend an absolute fortune and not have a Range Rover like everyone else.

It's a shameless display of wealth, but there are many who will buy it. Just because it's expensive enough that everyone else can't.

BTW I always found my Range Rover very quiet. No noise from the boot at all, despite an estate body and parcel shelf.

Probably because the parcel shelf is lined, thick and very good at absorbing sound. It's certainly nothing like most of us have in our Skodas, if that's what you are basing your opinion on.

The thing I don't understand is why would you need a SUV? The Phantom is as taller if not taller than the Yeti, which is plenty tall enough.

I can often hear Golf clubs and whatnots clinging in the back of our previous Range Rover P38a as well as the FF RR,

The only people who will buy that are footballers with no taste. They'll probably get it painted pink, with pink leather and a special seat for the handbag dog / micro-pig.

If you're rich and not a tool you'll probably still buy a Range Rover.

Gash.

That is all.

Will probably sell well in China

At least 2 of the people in that headline photo look like they're looking for somewhere to be sick!

that looks quite good for a 4x4 tbh

Looks like Bentley's squareheads have conceded this car is fugly and will be re-designing it a little.

Thank God for that. It's eye-breakingly foul.
