Need to convert VRS into a load carrier for my business until i get a van..

Featured Replies

Am i right in thinking if i remove the rear seat bases and the headrests from the seat backs. I can fold the rear seat backs flat to create a flat loading area? If i was to remove all the rear seats i think the wires running below the seats would be damaged and the load area would be uneven..

Would the backs be able to handle serious weight??? Anyone done this? Does a towel or something need to be placed between the backs and the floor to prevent the seats from getting mucky?

Thanks

I'm sure you'd get more in if you had the seats fully out. maybe lay a thick blanket

over the load area base to protect wires etc.

I'm sure this has occured to you already but do make sure your insurance is in order.

I use a firm called Gladiator for my van insurance. They also do public liability insurance

and cover for tools etc

Do you have the over the shoulder middle rear belt?

If you have, then you'll have to unbolt it from the car to remove the rear seats. Otherwise, they just unclip and can be removed pretty easily :)

Seatbelt stalks will still stick out obviously, but they can also be unbolted fairly easily.

Aye, i'm thinking about this. Regards Insurance, the car will literally be used to ferry my stock to a handling depot and nothing more. Once a month activity, but with a shedload of boxed up stock. Hence the reason why i don't want to remove all the seating..

After the stock has been dropped off i can put the bases back in and start using the car again.

Nope. Does not have middle seat belt. Thanks for the headsup.. .

I did exactly what DRJ has pictured when i moved house (and for the trackdays but thats another story)

Only issue i found was that when i moved a brand new washing machine the centre post where the seat hinge (on the right of the seat belt clips in DRJ's second picture) protrudes massively and createdf a huge pivot point where the entire weigh of the washing machine was focused.

Dependant on what you are carrying it'd probably be better to leave the seats in
