Sticking rear driver side window

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

Was wondering if you have any idea how to loosen the wind down window in the read doors. The runner winds down fine but the glass stays in place, I can put my hand on it and pull the window down fine and it rolls back up completely fine.

Anyone know how to loosen it up slightly so it goes down fine?

Thanks,

Adam :)

Anyone know how to fix this? been trying for some time with no joy!

iirc, the rear door window is held on the runners by a plastic bung, which can be seen through a gap in the door if the door card has been removed and a rubber bung removed you can see the other rubber holding the glass in place.

hope this helps.

Does this mean I can fix it without having to remove the carrier?

Sorry, but im not 100% sure what your problem is.

If your saying you can wind the window carrier right down and the glass doesnt even move, you need to clean the window seals and lubricate with a suitable spray, maybe silicone spray (NOT TO BE MISTAKEN FOR SILICONE GLUE!) or wd40 if its all you have.

But before hand, you want to wind the window right up, open the door and get a piece of tape, put it on the glass on the outside, over the top of the door and put it on the inside of the glass, do this in a few places to hold the glass in place. If you dont when you start pulling the door apart the glass might loosen, fall down and smash.

With the glass secured take the door card off, theres plenty of guides how to do it but basically pull the plastic bits off, take 2 big screws out, pull door card and plastic clips will either come off or smash (Again, check guide first  )

With the door card off you will see 2 big rubber grommets in the metal bit of the door, pop them off, shine a torch in and wind the window down untill you can the carrier bit in the middle of where the glass should be, it will have a hole in it about the size of a 5p. Check to see if its in place, it may have just came loose or fallen out. But on the other hand if your window is jammed up tight in the seals, it may have been smashed trying to force the window down.

either way, find or replace it, loosen the glass off and slide it down into the carrier, push the new rubber bung through the 5p hole and into the glass, that should secure it in place. That with the door seals cleaned should mean problem solved.

Hope this helps.
