Bio Diesel

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Is it safe to run my 2005 1.9TDI PD 130 on Bio Diesel? Not home made, commercially sold fuel.

Cheers lads,

Rob

Just spoke to my local Skoda dealer, and they said it's a big no no running the PD130 on Bio Diesel.

Thats that then..

Thanks to anyone who may have any more info on this.

Risky in winter due to water content, in spring-autumn you should be OK as long as the car's user manual states it is biodiesel compatible, I have a different engine, 2.5V6 TDI and it does work rather well with biodiesel.

PDs are more intolerant of water in biodiesel because when it freezes out in winter, it destroys the pump-injectors. 3000 engine fault claims in one winter in Germany. But generally, in winter it is better to run ordinary diesel as gelling, soap flaking etc. are far less of an issue.
