Felicia Fun Hardtop Wanted

Featured Replies

Looking for a Felicia Fun hardtop. There's nothing on ebay, or anywhere else I've looked - can anyone help?

Cheers!

That is for the Mk1 Golf based caddy, so I don't think it would have fitted anyway

You managed to get your hands on a Fun Truck then Chris?

I think the hard tops are overrated a bit the truck looks much better without one.

I'm not disagreeing, but the top comes in handy in winter (or summer), you have the seats out and the weather's iffy. (Well, unless you've got a rain-cover. ;) ;) )

I think mine looks better with the polished roll-over bar on the back. ;) ;)

(Note the steel wheels have gone and the yellows are back :) )

^ looks wise I prefer no top but there's been quite a few times when weather has been an issue and often restricts opening up the back. :( I like the roll over bar you've got fitted there, assume it's self fabricated? I'm sure the back of mine being constantly exposed to the elements promoted timber rot and the need to unfortunately strip it all off the bed!

Apparently the bar and rain cover were done by a dealer up in Scotland, who also changed the colour of the truck to white body/green trim, plus changed the interior to something, er, "less bright" shall we say. I say the remains of the truck in Petersfield last year. It was a one-off, and am sad to say it didn't enhance the truck in anyway. I think part of the fun in these trucks is their bright colouring.

Apparently mine sat in a warehouse for 5 years, the wood bowed and the adhesive gave up. I have a plastic bed-liner in there from when she was a daily-runner. Replacing the strips was on my to-do list.

Sounds like a really interesting bit of history to your truck. I've often thought through different colour combinations but haven't really come up with anything different that works for me. As you say it would easy to detract from what the fun was always intended to be (bright & fun). I've found you really either love or hate it and have in the past carried people where you get the looks and that awkward silence suggesting all you need to know about what they think! But each to their own I say.

I'd always intended to replace the rear timbers, but having stripped them out, treated the bed with some repairs as necessary and then painted in matching yellow it looks ok and I think I'll live with that. Just off outside now to do a bit more rust related work on the exposed inner arches in the back. Talk about rust vulnerable areas :wall: , but will keep me busy up to around lunch providing the wet stuff holds off!
