quick shifter

Featured Replies

HI All,

I want to fit a quick shift to my 2001 1.8T octavia, I have seen one advertised on ebay and when I questioned if the kit would suit a pushdown reverse I was told no but the kit converted the reverse selector to pull up, has anyone fitted one of these kits or have any relevant info, I would be gratefull of any help at all.

Thanks

Actually telling us what make the QS kit is might help. Several of the Site Sponsors sell (and some fit) QS kits that are known to work with VAG boxes.

I used to like my mk2 golfs one

Never gave thought for the octy

Hmmm?? Any good and highly recomended ones for the octy that folk are using ???

... quick shift ... converted the reverse selector to pull up ...

I have a forge quick shift on mine. Highly recommended. Fits at the gearbox end. Simple to fit 20 mins tops including getting out tools and packing away. Reduces forwards and backwards movement but doesn't reduce side to side.

Does that maintain the vrs oem gear knobb pete matey

The forge does.

Man....... My to buy list is growing fast lol

Better get a watering that money tree

Creations Motorsport do a copy of the forge one for a fraction of the price...

has anyone got links for the forge one? i can only find the 6 speed one online

Awesome gti do the forge one. Product code is GS-QS-FOR-5 it's in the golf mk 4 transmission section.

are they idiot fitter friendly  whats the adjustable bit//

Ooops i just found the forge fitting guide and i have no idea what bits they are on about lol

To a garage job for me :( i dont wana fudge my gears or anything :(

Seriously it's dead simple to fit even I had no trouble. You cannot get it wrong. It's adjustable but I set mine at the max to get the shortest throw job done.

It was the ball joint stripper tool that got me ?? Huh ???

No don't need a splitter. The ball cable ends are clipped on and clips are easily removed with your fingers.

If all fails i'll get one and bring to castle coombe shall i pete LOL

I'll investigate under my bonnet and see , if i break it i shall be murdered in my sleep

Really is dead simple to fit.

I fitted mine in the dark .

Hi bud, I have had a look at the creation- motorsport q/s, it looks ok to me and the feedback on the site is very good, have you used this q/s yourself or do you know anyone who has. I really need to be extra careful with my money and can't afford to **** it up.

many thanks for your reply and time

Ian

I've only used the Forge one. The sort of thing you only buy once. Yes Forge stuff is slightly on the expensive side but it's excellent quality.

I want one of these too lol

I have the Creation Motorsport quick shift, for the money I can't complain. It's a little notchy compared to the original as there isnt the big counter weight on it,to help smooth it out. But feels a lot better than standard as the throw is massive in standard form.
