Maxi Dot Information - km/h to mph

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has already been covered.

I'm pretty adept at reading the manual (or "rtfm" as it's often known!), and have already changed the central door locking to one click to unlock all the doors - a major feat!

But the central display has foxed me. It shows speed in km/h which is slightly annoying as (i) I dont ever envisage driving in mainland Eurpoe, and (ii) more importantly the speedo goes up in 20mph segments meaning the vital 30 mph isnt hugely apparent when trying to stick to the limit in urban areas.

The manual suggests the "Second Speed" part of the menu is the one to go for. But I don't seem to have that particular menu.

Any ideas? Perhaps it's no longer available...............?

Cheers

You can have mph on the central screen, but you need someone with a VCDS to plug your car in and set the car to think it's in Austrailia.

They don't have this rule where you need the speed in km to be available.

A dealer can't do this.

Bummer! Never mind, thanks for the info. I cant really see myself going down this route as it's a lease car and they might understandably get a bit funny about too much tinkering. :wonder:

they would never know unless they were real Skoda anoraks. It's a 2 minute software change. I did one yesterday and another today. Have a look at the VCDS owners map on here and PM someone local to you.

The lease companys never actually see the vehicles. Only the dealers. When they go off lease they tend to go straight to auction! Wouldn't worry about it

And it's only 2 minutes to change it back anyway. :)

Just drive with 50 - 52kph on the display? ;)

PS> The Australian conversion put a large digital mph display on the centre screen; so you don't get the range or other readout.

If you have maxidot then all other options remain the same.

Bit of mis-explanation; what I meant to say is that you get a large digital MPH readout along with the range, mpg, time, etc so if you have the large MPH readout you can't see the range (a small niggle perhaps) or does this then go down to the lower section where the small KPH currently is.

If that makes sense.

No problems all - cheers for the wise words.

I'll stick with kmh as whilst it's an annoyance I can hardly call it a real problem. Had I been able to change it myself I'd have done so, but it's a "nice to" rather than a "need to".

This is what it looks like - check out the elsie link in my signature.
