Emissions and glow plug warning lights at same time.

Featured Replies

I had the engine and glow plug symbols flash up today on my VRS after giving the engine a bit of work overtaking a lorry. There does not seem to be any drop off in performance but I guess I am going to have to get it plugged in to diagnostics ASAP. Has anyone else had this happen and anyone got any idea of what it might be? Have i blown a load of crud through or is is an EGR valve gone pop perhaps??/

Hi Matt

Not claiming any great knowledge on the subject (although my wife's Fabia Elegance currently has 'exhaust control' warning lamp on!!) but here's a link to a similar sounding thread :

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/186489-glow-plug-light-flashing-and-engine-light-staying-on/

First port of call would appear to be brake light switch above the pedal - thereafter a scan for fault codes!!

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Hope you get it sorted

Hi aak I have thrown this out to the board as a whole but we stuck a code reader on it today and it came back with "ignition dist engine speed input circuitry". My Bro in law is a motor tech but had never heard of that. He cleared it and is going to do some research. I took it on a 10 mile drive and the lights did not come back home. Also engine performance is and was normal (i.e it did not go into limp home mode). It's baffling to us.

If you Google fault code P0320 you get the "ignition dist engine speed......" definition.

This seems to point to the crankshaft speed sensor Or position sensor as being faulty. You would however normally experience 'limp mode' as well! The fact that you cleared it and it hasn't come back on might suggest an intermittent wiring issue with the sensor.

If I discover anything more I'll post again.

Thanks a lot aak. As i say it came on after I gave the car some hammer so I might have blown the sensor. Doesn't sound too sinister :)
