Seat Belt Stalk

Featured Replies

Insert key into ingnition and switch on.

What normally happens is that you get an audible warning that you have not put the seat belt clip into the stalk.

How does the stalk comminicate with the vehicle electrics to let you know that the belt clip has not been put into the stalk? This is a constant question I ponder on.

The Haynes book of fables states the stalk is bolted to the drivers seat, not so! it's bolted to the centre consul tunnel.

I think it's just a warning, no matter whether the belt is in or not.

The stalk should be bolted into the seat.

Are you 100% sure that yours isn't?

Definately bolted to centre consul tunnel, seems there are four options of stalks fitted to the Fabia.

I think it's just a warning, no matter whether the belt is in or not.

Suspect you're right. No mention of circuits for seat belt alarm in Haynes .Other makers have ( I suspect) some form of seat sensor and ( again assumption) use a semi conductive belt to sense passengers bums on seats and belts plugged in ,or could it be just a micro switch in the stalk holder . .( Ford Focus springs to mind) .
