Colour code front grill cost?

Featured Replies

Im looking to colour code the grill to my 56 plate vrs.

What sort of prices have people had this done for?

Or can you buy them already sprayed?

Cheers

Dont think you can buy them ready done, I bought a new grille and sprayed it myself,

Looks bang on that does, dont like the chrome on mine but its gonna look better than if i took a spray can to it!

Consider wrapping it too.

Consider wrapping it too.

Can you make it colour coded with wrapping? I think it would look different anyway than car's color? Or am I wrong?

Would an exact colour match be possible though?

I did the same bought new grill surround and Skoda Badge and had it sprayed at a paint place did a cracking job far better than standard! Since yours is a different part prob a lil cheaper mine was about £60 from dealers for surround and £12 for badge then cost £50 or £60 for them to make it happen at paint place and they even swapped it over for me when I came to pick it up for free (fed & watered me too).. I would prob just take yours off and get someone to spray it for you a lot cheaper I only wanted to get another as it was a new car and wanted to keep original part in case it looked bad.

Nice 1 all, thanks for the replies

I got quoted £150 for my grille to get sprayed in Carlisle :S

I quickly said no and ran away, guessing they were having me on if you got yours sprayed for £60 Fubar.

Colour coding grill surround IMO only works well on darker colours such as black and anthracite. I had mine wrapped matt back. Looks good on a white car.

I tried eight different paint sprayers / bodyshops and most of them wouldn't touch it. Those that said yes wouldn't offer any guarantee on the paint because they couldn't key it properly and even then really wern't that interested. I gave up in the end so unless somebody can point me at a place in Sussex that will do this, I'm sticking with the nasty looking chrome!

I had a mate's Polish lodger do mine for about £50 or so!

Still fine.

£75 i was for mine that included a new badge front and rear as they were bubbling and the dealer wasnt interested in a warranty replacement.

Where about are you and what colour is the car? I've got a new pre f/l surround sat on mi fridge.

I would be very wary of this as I had mine done at the dealer and my Candy white coded grill is pock marked after only 4 months...to make matters worse it is obvious that the prep was poor and the original chrome effect was never keyed properly/removed. Hence I have silver chips!

There is a thread somewhere on here that goes into more detail...some have even taken the grill right back to base material then paint, lacquer and wrap with anti stone chip.

Would I still do it?....yes but by a recommended paint shop. Would I go for white? perhaps not...black will cover the chips better.

As a guide I think £80 is a fair shout.

Race blue pal, im from birmingham.

PlastiDip!

No need to bother with wrapping or painting with this! Its all the rage over the pond and looks very easy to do.

Firstly Congratulations for being one of the first people I have seen new to the forum obviously using the search function successfully not just starting another topic on the same thing that's been asked many times. For that you have won a comprehensive answer. :hi:

Got my part No's in the 'Octavia II Useful Parts thread' post #90 prices will be likely a bit more now VAT etc has since changed http://www.briskoda....l-part-numbers/

With thanks to oobster

FL Front Chrome Grille Surround - 1Z0853661A739 - £46.95 + VAT

Badge for the centre of the above surround - 3U0853621BMEL - £12.57 + VAT

VRS badge for above - 1Z0853679BAQ - £8.33 + VAT

I would recommend getting the newer badges at same time if going all Race Blue. Part No's for those are in this thread (one above is for the old green badge) http://www.briskoda....es#entry3116892
