Intermittent ABS / PAS warnings and radio shutoff at the same time

Featured Replies

Used VCDS and for ABS came up with fault codes 00532. Supply Voltage B+ and Elec Cent code 01598 Drive Battery : Signal too low. No fault with PAS. Any ideas which to check first. the car is 4.5 years old. Original battery. Not much done to it apart from cam belt change in sept/ oct last year. The warnings are intermittent and possible 2 maybe 3 times per journey if at all. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Forgot to mention it's a 2007 Fabia II 1.9TDi, mileage now at 28300miles

Check the earth points on the N/S inner wing, there is one down near the back of the headlight, 2 near the ABS unit behind the airbox and the main battery earth cable point. I have had a few fabias with this kind of fault. Removed the earth wires and cleaned up the terminals and posts with a bit of emery cloth and refitted. You can then treat the post with a bit of preservation wax. On rare occasions i have had to replace the complete earth strap.

Thanks Andy, I'm away until next wed so will have to wait until then. I think it could be the one near to the headlight. I had a seal split on the oil filter cap and after replacement, I pressure washed the tray under the engine to remove the residual oil. So it could be this one. I'll check them all anyway.Thwere's nothing worse than trying to troubleshoot an intermittent elec problem. I'll update after the work is done.

Have you measured the power of battery, mine was dead at 4th year (Roomster, 2007), before it dies car gave interesting faults on dashboard, like ABS warning, even ESP light came up where my car had not ESP :)

Update on the problem.............Battery replaced, defects cleared. No further problems. All fault codes cleared. Just for info, I checked the battery volts, with engine stopped I had a reading of 12.45volts, with engine running, 14.65volts. This was straight after a run out and the battery should have been fully charged. After replacement, the readings were 12.6 and 14.25 with the engine running. A good fix.
