Fuel filter change

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Has anyone changed their fuel filter? Is it difficult or easy? 54 plate VRs.

Thanks

phil

yeah its easy mate. use a set if needle nosed pliers for the clips in the fuel lines, but other than that its straight forward and as simple as unclipping the filter from the housing, removing the send and return pipe and noting which is which and then unclipping the pipe that fits in top of the filter. Its obvious when you look at it.

remember to pump the fuel a few times to flood the filter (by turning the key 1st click, then off), otherwise it may not start :)

Thanks guys, i assume its located beneath the bonnet? ( my girlfriend uses the car so i am not too familiar with the lay out).

Yes, drivers side behind headlight

Worth tipping the fuel from the old one into the new one, usually saves needing to prime the filter.

Difficulty - 2/10

Time - 10 mins

Tools - pliers & rags/paper towels in case of accidental spillage

If it's the cllips with two ends ( as in those used in washing machins) , I find it easir to use an appropriate sized pair of Moles .
