Heater blower problem

Featured Replies

Hi all.

My heater fan started playing up some time last week, first I noticed a smell, like burning plastic, then a couple of days later the fan was running slow in pos 3&4, then it would kick in again for a short while. Anyway as of Monday it has stopped altogether, though sometimes in pos 1 it will make a sound like a dying pigeon, I took the fan and resistor out today, thinking maybe it is the resistor, and then I thought maybe it's the brushes, so I decided to have a look at these, low and behold they are worn down, but as I fiddled about I unclipped the spring that holds the brush in place, problem is I cannot get enough access to hook it back on. So my main question is ..does anybody know how to remove the impeller fan so as to gain acccess ??
