Geo setup near Derby

Featured Replies

Had a bit of a shock today when checking after around 6 months on some new tyres on the front. Inside wear had destroyed the tyre (offside shown, nearside is also bad, but not this bad).

I'm lowered on coilovers, which I'm assuming is the culprit. I did have the alignment done when I had the coilies and console bushes changed.

Is this something that can be fixed/reduced with a proper geo setup? (I know camber can't changed on a Fabia?) or is it time to raise the car a bit? I'm not that low, probably only about 30-35mm below standard?

If a geo might help, has anyone got any recommendations around the Derby/Notts/Midlands area that may be able to actually help rather than do 'tracking' and letting me on my way?

Low camber and factory toe would create wear like this. You need someone who knows what to do with lowered suspension.

Not sure how far away you are but theres a great place near dudley called A-line. They only do tracking and adjustments, they've done both my cars and they do race cars etc. well worth going to.

If camber is not adjustable though, would you say it can be dialled out with just toe? Or would the only option be to raise the car to straighten the camber?

No. First of all is to make sure camber is symetrical on both sides. Then you need to set toe acordingly to amount to neg camber. This is why few places make a mistake. Put gauges on, set it "within green" and we are great. No that is wrong. You need to understand how to set it with lowered vehicle. Read tyres condition and see what works for your setup.

Many times angles being out of spec doesnt mean its wrong. Its a case of making it individual for vehicle - specialy with lowered setup.

I know ets have a good alignment laser job and one of the lads changed summat on old car to help this issue dude. Big guy with glasses was top lad lol
