Radio Code - symphony cd player

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been done to death, ive used the search function but didnt find much.

ive recently bought a 2006 Fabia sport - came with an aftermarket headunit which wasnt the look i was after. I went to a scrap yard and pulled the symphony Cd player out of a vrs, but came with no code.

I tried my local skoda specialist which didnt seem interested in helping but said "we can pull it in for you and have a look but you'll have to leave the car with us and it could take a few days"

I then tried auto-sounds... who said they can get the code for £25 + vat but they need the radio to be left with them for about 24 hours as it needs to be plugged into there software on the work bench to get the code, and this can take a few days also.

my last option would be the dealers but im not sure on price, what they need and how long it'll take.

i thought they would just need the barcode from the top so i wrote all the numbers down before fitting it......

I've got the ford software which is simple to use and takes about 30 seconds.

so if anyone can help or suggest any other ways or give me details about the dealers, price etc... id be greatful, Thanks.

I had no idea that the standard stereo needed a code, no mention of it on the unit. Was about to fit an aftermarket unit, but want to keep the option of putting the standard one back in at some point in the future.

Will watch the outcome of this thread with interest.

Skoda charged me £27 for the code after i disconnected the battery......didnt work though. stays in safe mode

in my other fabia, i took out the standard unit, had a fancy flip out screen one with satnav etc, had that fitted for about 6 month then put the standard one back in and it worked fine, apparntly its because you only need the code once, it gets stored in the cars ecu and the headunit itself, so i wouldnt worry to much about that.

my problem is the cd player isnt the original its from a different car so the codes clashed and requires the code to be enterd to sync them up.

i'll check with skoda shortly and get the code. ;)

Thanks for the replies

Got the code, put it in by pressing the 1,2,3,4 buttons the correct amount of times to change the number (if your code was 2564, you would press number 1 twice, number 2 five times, number 3 six times, number 4 four times) then pressing and holding the search or next track etc.. button.

the screen then came up with "clearing" or somthing like that, after 5 seconds bbc radio came on and its working fine. turned it on and off still worked fine, took the key out and left it for a minute, turned it back on and still works.

so jobs a good'un, Thanks to everyone that helped.

Did you get it directly from Skoda? How much did it cost?
