Fabian mk1 dash

Featured Replies

I've just bought a Fabia mk1 yr 2000. In between the speedos there's a black screen that has a few lights when I turn on the car. The manual states its an information display yet I have no clue how to turn it on. Any ideas? Or is this not a feature of my car?

If you mean a "full-on" text display which says things like "Washer fluid level low" that's an optional extra, known as Maxidot and I think it was fitted in association with sat nav. Cars with standard equipment just have boggo warning lights there (handbrake, etc).

This is a maxidot display:

And there is another photo here at: http://fabia-joy.wz....ry/image004.jpg

For comparison, here's a photo of a standard instrument binnacle which you most likely have fitted to your car: http://www.lyonssyst...1-010-PTIMG.jpg

Does that say start crying I have and expensive problem? lol

From the information in he manual (page12 &21) I would suggest that it's model level dependant.

I'd be surprised to see an SDI with maxidot...

If there are lights on when you turn on the ignition and they go out

once running then I'd suggest that everything is working as it should.

If things start lighting up in there when the engine is running then that would

suggest a fault. The SDI is probably the most reliable engine available in the Fabia.

Thanks guys guess I haven't got it. Just weird seeing a blank screen whilst driving. The lights do go out by the way as soon as I start her up.
