Vibrating windscreen wipers

Featured Replies

As above really! It has been happening intermittently since my windscreen was replaced. Any tips to resolve the issue?

New wiper blades.

I'm sure I have replied to this problem before on here.

Switch on your wipers. Look carefully to see which way the blades move to cause the noise.

The problem is caused by the blade not "flipping" over on the change of direction.

Get a large rag--an old hand towel will do wrap it round the blade where the arm joins it. Grip the whole lot hard and twist it in the correct direction so that on change of direction the blade will flip and lean in the correct direction.

It will require some strength and you may have to repeat it.; You may overdo it and have to move it the other way to correct your over enthusiasm.

job done.

In the off position!?

So with the wipers in their rest position at the bottom of the screen they are vibrating?

Trade it in on a rainy day.

Yep, the rest position sorry. It doesn't happen all the time but started after the windscreen was replaced. The wife doesn't notice it so it's probably not that bad, just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced similar

Kenny, are you sure it is the wipers that are vibrating, can you actually see them moving?

Is the issue the noise they make?

I'm struggling to understand how two strips of rubber could vibrate enough to cause an issue. Could you perhaps explain in a little more detail what exactly is happening...
