Weird one hoping you can help me with

Featured Replies

been down the coast this weekend to see both my mum and hers for mothers day. before we left my washers seemed weak so i stopped at tesco to top up my washer fluid. I was a bit miffed when i still saw about 15% of fluid in there. Topped it up anyways and didnt think nothing of it.

parked the car up on her mums road which happens to be on a pretty steep hill last night, and on opening the boot today i notice a bit of water drip from the tailgate and on the top of the bumper and around the rubber seal. thought it was a bit odd but put it down to the rain we had last night.

driving to my mums from hers i had no washer fluid again. so i fill it again at my mums and left it the couple hours i was there to see if there was a puddle under the car which there was not.

last of all.. i get back home tonight, getting stuff out the boot and i notice to the nearside rear of the boot the floors a bit soggy. Confussed.com. Any connection to the 2? i didnt use the rear wiper washer so could not tell you if it worked? do these suffer from the rear washer pipe comming apart same as the golf and a3 even on the estate?

yes, they do, Hasn't happened to mine but if you do a search

you'll find a good few threads on this.

there is a joint beneath the cd changer wrapped within the wiring loom which pops apart, which it did on my estate some time ago

this makes perfect sense as i disturbed all that wiring in my reversing cam and removing CD changer. Bugger! :wall:

I've had this happen on both my Octy, and the Cordoba I had prior to it (though that was the front washer hose joint that went)...

Pull out the boot liner on the Passenger side, and u'll most likely see the 2 halves of the pipe seperated. Just push the joint back together and yer good to go again.

Its in such a great location.. :wonder: with the wiring loom to the rear lights running right through where the main puddle will form if the hose joint seperates...

Just noticed, the posts above mine, I dont have a CD changer in my Mk1... :-(

Fixed this issue today, it was indeed the pipe under where the cd changer is. Filled my spare wheel well up with nice blue screen wash. lol. I'll pop a couple pics up when I get in.

mac11, the CD stacker was standard on Elegance, (v)RS and L&K trims, but not on Classic or Ambiante.

Yeah, I know ken.. To be honest It doesnt really bother me, as I intend swapping out the after market radio that's currently in it for an mp3 compatible unit. saves a lot of burning cd if u can just stick 16hrs of music on a flash drive and bung it in the radio!

for the record, this is the pipe at fault under the CD changer.
