VAG COM/Alarm question

Featured Replies

cant work out whether my alarm is on or not, havent heard it go off, or know what it sounds like....

The other day on a project thread I asked about anti-jacking door could it be turned on or off as a mates dad has an octy and when he drives off his door lock.... mine dont. Also that little light in the door, does that flash constantly, as mine flashes once when you set alarm.

Where is the Siren as cant seem to see that anywhere to hand.

I have read the owners manual and it says if bonnet is popped it will go off, nothing....

I have VCDS Lite, cant seem to be able to do anything with it. does this need to be a VAG com system use? If this is the case does anyone live in Hampshire has one?

Cheers,

Dave

I doubt very much you have an alarm matey. Iirc they were an option in the uk but fitted as standard abroad or something similar.

Surely something as modern as an Octy vRS would have an alarm... Or am I missing something?

It has alarm, it has the red light next to the drivers door knob, flashes when locks, have read the manual and that means it has alarm, but it doesnt flash after that...

Going to double check the fuse but it appeared to be ok.

Sorry mate, but that does not definitely mean that it has an alarm fitted. Mine has the flashing light also but has no alarm. The flashing light indicates that the immobiliser is set.

ok, what was the light on the radio for then? thought this all showed it had an alarm?

Sorry. just trying to understand....if there was an alarm, where would the siren be located?

+1

VCDS is the new name for VAG-Com

Anti-Hijack is the setting in CCU [46] that locks the doors when you drive off

If the driver's door LED is not flashing when the doors are locked, you probably have a faulty microswitch in the door lock.

If VCDS lite can turn off the beeps on locking & unlocking (central convenience, module 46, adaption, channels 6 & 7 I think) then you can test if the alarm is working as it should chirp once when locking, and twice when unlocking.

Sorry I stand corrected, The flashing light actually indicates that the doors are deadlocked. As stated the Octy vRS did not come fitted with an alarm as standard from the factory. If and I say If your car has one then it will have been fitted by the dealer. Now if you can not see a siren in the engine bay and the alarm does not go off as you've said then I would say there is a good chance you don't have one fitted. If you do have one fitted then they are powered by a seperate battery according to the owners manual which has a life span of 5 years so it coulde be that that has packed up. I'm off out to the car to have a look through mr Haynes lol.

The normal horn is used to indicate the key coding process has worked when you code a new key and I'm sure I read on here years ago that the horn goes off if you try and force the bonnet open when the car is deadlocked, but other than that, no alarm, just locks on the doors and an immobiliser.

I always just declared "factory fit" security on my insurance.
