Bye Bye MK1 VRS - Hello MK2 (warning contains yellow!)

Featured Replies

Just traded in my MK1 Octy VRS ( which at 3 years was the longest I had ever owned a car) at Meadens Skoda, for this beauty here:

2008 VRS TFSI, Sprint yellow (obviously), 18's, Maxidot, Xenons, rear sun blind etc. 35K miles, one owner from new. (Thanks to Ben @ Meadens for the excellent service I received)

Very nice, how does it compare to the mk1?

Completely different car to drive.

Bigger and heavier

Better steering feel IMO (even though its EPS)

6 speed box is a vast improvement on the 5 speed of the MK1 but the clutch (with DMF) is pretty nasty compared to my old cars G60/VR6 SMF conversion.

Ride appears to soak up the bumps better (even on 18's)

Engine more responsive at low revs (direct injection iirc)

Interior much better and no white carpets

Not done much "proper" driving yet TBH, just short journeys with daughter and SWMBO in the car.

Will report back once I manage to prise the keys from her hands (she loves it) and get some spirited drivng in.

BTW, Im by no means knocking the MK1, its a great car. Someone once described the MK1 VRS as being more raw than the MK2 and I think thats a pretty good way of summing them up. The MK2 is more refined but they are both excellent cars.

Nice looking car at 35K just run in  .

I looked at a black mk2 one at a dealership in aylesbury last year, it felt huge inside and did feel more upmarket, layout, finish, etc.

Did'nt get to drive it tho' just sat in it as the sales guy did his conducted tour.

Remap next ????

Cheers . Remap or SMF conversion (if available) would be nice at some point.

I was thinking of get her indoors a MK2 as our family car. Must say I prefer the look of the MK1's though. Looks a nice tidy example. Well done mate.

Thanks mate. Wouldnt mind going dark on the wheels like you have on your car. Yellow cars seem to suit dark wheels.

Best colour. B)

Chronicbint, I concur with your suggestion :giggle:

looks like a real nice example mate liking the colour aswell! gotta say your right i have a mk1 and my bro has a mk2, mk2 is more refined even tho his is diesel interior build quality feels better aswell!
