Hi everyone,

Have had my beloved 03 plate fabia for 3 years and only in the past week it's developed a problem. After I fill up with petrol it won't start. I have to leave (on the forecourt) for about 20 mins then all is OK and it starts again. It may be that I fill within 10 mins of starting journey but theres no other issues with starting at any other time. I'm confused... Any help appreciated muchly.

Hi and welcome, did you overfill it or just normal , maybe there is gunge at the bottom which moved around and partially blocked your fuel filter , or if you did overfill ithere might throw some light, maybe your car is similar http://www.fixya.com/cars/t1795875-car_start_right_away_after_refueling

Thanks for the post. I fill until it clicks but this makes sense. I usually run quite low but it never happens normally so I guess I'll try filling to 3/4 and see how I get on.

Hi,

Just dropped off car half a mile from work as same problem but without the fuel fill this time. I've had an engine light on for ages and its the warning light that looks a little like an engine block and am not sure if this is connected. Can anyone help with ideas? I don't mind the exercise this morning but am due to travel around the country (fuel shortage allowing) in a couple of weeks so would like to sort before then. I don't mind taking it to a garage if needed but would like a heads up beforehand just in case I get a dodgy mechanic.

Any help much appreciated.
