Modify or not to modify that is the question?

Featured Replies

Good Afternoon All,

I am stuck in a right dilemma with my 2004 Fabia Vrs mk1 Black Magic, mileage 102k

Im looking into getting her remapped, lowered, Audi TT comps, cupra spitter and a few other things here and there like carbon wrapped roof and wing mirrors

What is everyone advice... i know modifying a car is down to the individual person, but am i wasting my money, am i silly on getting it remapped with the mileage that its got on it? still original clutch and gearbox.

Any advice is much appreciated, but please no jumped up computer warriors

cheers in advance

Dan

102,000 miles not really that high to worry about mapping it.

1st rule of owning a fab vrs is to map it. Lol.

May get clutch slip but just learn how to use higher revs to avoid it.

Splitter has been done to death but still looks the business on the fab's.

If you want to, crack on.

Yes, you could buy a newer/better car instead, but then it's not personal and spending more on another car will only see that devalue anyway.

The only reason I can think of not to modify is if you worry about money.

Because face it, you are never going to see 70% of what you spend back, unless you strip the car prior to sale. Then you still won't get more than half back.

Just make sure you plan to keep the car for a bit, so you get the benefit of putting money into it.

To modify or not to modify? I was just thinking about this and it's a good question.

The answer will be different for each individual as we all have different needs and expectations from our cars.

My car modification started a week after i bought it brand new in August 2003 and have continued to the present day and i've spent around 8k doing it.

Due to the modification i've done i still love driving the car and will continue to enjoy driving it.

If i never improved (modified) my car i would have become bored with the thing and would of sold ages ago so i reckon from a financial point of view i've saved money by not buying a new car every few years like a friend of mine who keeps his car standard and buys a new car every 18 months. He's just bought a SEAT Leon cupra yesterday btw!

Cheers everyone.

I have just ordered H+R 30mm springs and the cupra splitter. Think Im going to hold of the remap for the time being and get my alloys sprayed
