Lock question

Featured Replies

Hello folks. Well I sold my vrs back in 2010 :-( and sold my little mpi just after as it wasn't the same not having the vrs as well. But I've since picked up another classic 1.2 12v though as don't have the money at the moment for another vrs. No idea who has it now or whether its changed any?

It's an 03 plate done 70k and needs some tlc. Has air con and a trip computer but no electrics or central locking lol!

The drivers door lock is knackered on it. Is it possible to get a replacement from skoda? If so how much do you think it'll be? Its in having the brakes sorted as its peeing brake fluid out the back brakes and an mot so I can get use of it so obviously I'd like the lock sorted asap lol

Heres a quote i had from my thread a while back.

Just incase sombody does a search and wants an up to date price my recipt shoes the following.

Chassis lock - £53.63

Total goods - £53.63

Total Vat - £10.73

Total Due - £64.36

I worked at peugeot at the time and didnt get a discount, possibly because i didnt think to mention it! :@

It was a waste of money for me as the lock didnt work in my car anyway, and DID NOT! come with a spare key like i was told. I could have argued and tried to get a refund but i just pulled the old lock apart, used some of the parts from the new lock and fixed the original one.

They needed the original key to the car, logbook and reg details to order the lock, its a long wait for the lock to arive with a waiting time of 3 - 4 weeks.

hope this helps :)

Lol well I'm gonna strip the lock out anyway and have a look. See if I can sort it with a repair kit

I don't need new keys so surely they can give me a barrel that's specific to my key!

My V5 is registered to trade so its not in my name. I'll phone skoda tomorrow

i didnt need the keys either, but it sort of sealed the deal with me thinking "well if it is the wrong lock, i can just use two keys...."

Whats actually wrong with the lock?

The problem with mine was it had no spring back, and could be opend with the handle of a spoon... or a stick.... or anything really..

Won't turn and the wee cover thing doesn't spring back. It's as if someone's forced the lock but it's not damaged like that

hmm, cant see why it wont turn other than the pins are jammed maybe?

I've replaced 3 of these locks now and finally have it down to a tee, but its a hard job to do if you havnt done one before, i even had a guide to replace it and found it very difficult

Dunno the key struggles to go in as well. Planning on stripping it out and soaking it in penetrating fluid. I've got stuff here that is much better the wd40 so will use that. If that doesn't work then I'll get a new one as long as I don't need to use a different key

They will match the barrel to the one on your logbook and use the numbers stamped at the top of your key (somtimes on both sides) to order your new lock, should be orderd to match your existing locks and key.

But in my case, doesnt always work out, for all i know the guy that orderd my lock took down a wrong number hence why it wouldnt work.

Possibly. I hope it works cos I don't want two different keys lol
