Water still getting behind the angle sensor. How on earth?!

Featured Replies

Power steering was getting flaky again in last couple of weeks (voltage fluctuations, PAS getting heavy, then light) so decided to drop the angle sensor after having done this in about October or so, to be greeted by plenty of dirty brown water. Well, it was the same this morning.... I know the angle sensor seal itself is tight as a duck's behind, but how is water getting in to the rack from above? I (and my mechanic) cannot see how this is physically possible.

Would appreciate some guidance on long term solution, which doesn't involve a new rack (this is pretty much a new rack really....)

T.I.A

Check the gasket between the rack and floor (where the steering column/input shaft enters the rack).

When i had this problem i just packed alot of grease around the plug area, havnt had any problems in about 8 month or so now...

So you think it was getting in from the plug sensor / seal itself?
