Lowering springs for >20mm drop on vRS - suggestions

Featured Replies

Hello folks,

At present I don't want to go down the coilover route, but I would like to lower my car.

I like Eibach springs, but I think the car needs to come down slightly more than the 20mm drop the Pro Kit offers over the standard right height.

I've looked at H&Rs available on Awesome's site and I get the impression they will only drop 35mm on non-vRS cars and 20mm on a vRS due to the latter's 'sports' suspension (y'know, how the ST170 was already a bit lower than a standard Focus).

Are there any other options I ought to look at, just for springs only at present?

IIRC pagey has PI springs which drop a bit further.

If you are planning to retain the OE dampers it's prob best to stick with a mild drop - these are not designed to work at a significantly reduced height.

I don't want to go as far as 50mm really, 30-35 is probably plenty. Just got to narrow that gap between wheel and arch.

Judging by the height of lee's car i'd say that's probably about where its sitting - as with the eibachs, the headline figure is for a "regular" octy whereas the vrs is already 15mm lower. Ie for the advertised 50mm drop you'd only get 35 on a vrs.

.. might be wrong?

Thanks Damian.

I've half changed my mind already and was in favour of a B12 kit - I know the drop won't be what I was originally thinking, but I think the B12 kit will be the best compromise.
