Beaten by a Seat...

Featured Replies

No not a Leon Cupra R, nor an Ibiza whatchamacallit, twas in fact a humble Alhambra MPV , well technically it didn't beat me, we were on the motorway and he was in front of me and I was just about keeping up with him, few car lengths behind (didn't want to make out that I was 'racing' an MPV!?!?!) before he pulled away to licence-losing speeds. Now I am definitely not a slow driver, I like to push the car quite a bit (and within reason/ legal limits although hard not to go beyond them) but have noticed quite a few MPV's of a seemingly more powerful ilk like this lately, usually when coming off a slip road onto motorway, they nearly always accelerate away at a much greater pace than I can manage. My one reassuring thought is that they are probably revvin the cr*p out of them, where as I'm using the power band of the Furby without redlining on every gearchange. Anyone else having similar MPV based troubles?

not quite an MPV, but some Transit/Mercedes Sprinter van drivers are complete nutters

Used to out accelerate me all the time when i had a 106, but the Furby is alot better obviously :)

The Seat Altea's quite quick!

With the 130pd engine in :)

They did do a 1.8T Alhambra, you sure it wasn't one of those?

Bear in mind though that some of these MPVs have the same engines as you lot have and therefore their tuning potential is just as good. Once had a go in a 350BHP Sharan, not so good on corners but straight line? :D :D :D :D :D

Yep.Some twonk in a picasso trying it off the lights.Me in the octy. Why  Frustrated dad

I have a real aversion to MPV's.Really sorry to those of you that have them but the shape and everything makes me want to kick it.

Why put 200 bhp into an ice cream van that you are carrying the precious kids in?

Give me an estate instead of an egg shaped vehicle anyday

(bugger nearly beat me but I wasn't expecting it)

Have to say I share your sentiments exactly, every time I see a Citroen Picasso I can never tell one end from the other, and yet some people still see fit to lower them, darken the windows and stick massive alloys on them. 'Yeah I'm a really hard ******* don't mess with me, but I do find I the extra luggage space in the back a real bonus on camping holidays'

I've just had a week away with a Picasso 2.0HDi hire car - Urghhhhh.

Glad to get it home again and I'm looking foward to a ride out in the Fabia.
