Cost of dmf

How much does a new dmf costs?

....

Edited by mattcut

I've just had one fitted to my Superb for £590. That included DMF, clutch kit and labour. I think the kit on it's own is about £350 for DMF and clutch.

The Octavia should be a bit cheaper because they don't have to drop the sub frame, so takes less time.

If you're getting a new DMF fitted, you may as well get the clutch done too

It's a dsg octi

As said an non-dsg, DMF/Clutch kit is about £300 + fitting depending where you go, however the dsg is probably going to be more

DSG Dual mass flywheels can be bought online for £380. Thats the LUK flywheel which I believe is OEM. There are slightly cheaper options but no solid flywheel conversion for the DSG as far as I can see.

Not sure what the actual book figure is for the labour, but it's gotta be at least 4-5 hrs. Don't know what your labour rates are locally, but in the UK the job would be at least £650 all in.

Turning left on my way home tonight I dropped into fourth instead of the usual third and laboured the engine getting back up from 30mph and felt the DMF vibrating, it made my watch rattle on my wrist through the steering wheel

Dont expect Skoda to do anything Silver, i'm now heading to court.

Ooo, really? Keep us posted!

I think it was Ema_Jane who also has a dodgy DMF on her PD170 and she uses the same dealer as me, I'm sure they were giving her the brush-off too

I would like to give Emma the brush off but that is something different entirely! :p :giggle:

I don't think that's ur flywheel it's come up a lot of times and it's the caractoristic of the cars, if Im in too high of a gear at low speeds it does it too, iv heard of new vrs doing this so don't confuse it with a DMF fault!

Phew

Phew

Just google it and u will see,

can you help me a little further? I also experience a problem that when I drive 50 mph in fifth gear I get some shutter/vibration, but you say that's not the flyweel?

The vibration at low rpm in a high gear is just slight transmission vibration, if ur get a bag vibration at 50mph it's more than likely ur DMF

Ok thank you I thought my DMF was going to die soon....

Is it dmf for dsg transmission on 1.9 and 2.0l tdi same or is it any difference between them? And is it DMF with part number 03l 105 266 AF right for Octavia 2 (1.9 tdi, BXE)?

Get it inspected through the inspection hole or by removing the starter.

There is no need to take the gearbox off.

I have a 55 plate Octavia 2.0tdi L&K and the dual mass flywheel appears to have exploded. When Palmers at Hemel removed the under tray they found pieces of spring. They are now offering to remove and replace the gear box (R&R?) for 6 hours labour. Any parts will be on top of that.

It would appear that I am about to spend getting on for £1,000 on a car that's nearly 7 years old and which has done nearly 140,000 miles; this seems a little silly to me. I took it in this morning (Saturday) so they won't do anything until Monday which leaves me time to tell them not to.

I would really appreciate any advice before I plunge into a major, possibly ill advised, expense.
