MG X Power SV - Collectors item?

Featured Replies

Now that the situation looks like MG Rover have gone bust will the SV become a collectors car? Bear in mind very small numbers of these have been sold due to high price and poor build quality.

Do you think prices will rocket due to the exclusivity or will they tumble?

I was thinking the same thing...

50:50 I say. Me and my mat at work where just talking about this, will they become really cheap to sell what might be left, or will they skyrocket.

For the owners lets hope they go up in price :D

A similar thing happened back in the 80's when group B rallying was banned. The road versions of the mg 6r4 were being sold for the same price as a new mk1 crx.

I didn't realise they'd ever sold ANY??? Although, seeing how Bristol seem to manage to find buyers for cars whose panels not only fit badly, but don't even match (check out the door in the attached picture from the Bristol website, so unlikely to have been doctored) - at a cost that'll buy you at least a flat if not a house in most parts of the country - then maybe shameful build quality and laughably high price aren't so off-putting for some...

The profile of the windows look like a skoda rapid.

There is only 1 SV on autotrader at the moment.

Some people buy cars with their heart regardless of it's problems. Lets face it most brands have had their lemons, just some have had more than others lol

Reckon they will be like the jaguar xj220.worth nothing

I'm holding myself back from saying anything about the car what a heap of shoddily put together bits of old tree ,twigs and elastic bands with spoilers and stupid gills and oh my god it's meant to be the best of british

Just a thought

Cant deny it looks great though.

No.gotta disagree mate.Looks like a fat MGTFwith extra bits. fresh from halfords and a drive thru Mc Donalds

I'm sorry but TVR do this job much better( ignoring breakdowns) ;)

:iagree:

You can't expect someone to shell out a fat wodge for a car that's OBVIOUSLY a parts bin special! I mean how much does it take to design some new door handles and wing mirrors, rather than taking them straight off the Rover 25? Or even getting some from Halfords, which unlike the chav-tastic spoilers, alloys and front wing vents, might even IMPROVE the look of the car. MG/R thought they could dress up a load of tat, and people would buy it because of claims of decent performance. Which could quite easily bring me on to BMW... ;)

 you cheered me up now

Some nice legs amongst the cheese :naughty:

50 SV's have been sold so far

101% depreciation

Somehow I doubt my Rover 100 will go up in value though

Kinda hoping a good eal will be found, it's gotta suck for those guys who really put their efforts in, was it 6000 jobs at risk?

Aren't those Bristol Alloy rims available for MotorWorld for

MG X Power SV ....... in classic terms, seems a bit like the DeLorean to me: promises loads, but not very good motors imho. Unfortunately, the MG hasn't had the worldwide notoriety that the DeLorean had, so will probably be just another odd-ball gas-guzzler thats impossible to get parts for!
